We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal.
Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.
Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.
Job Summary.
This position is for a Senior Control Systems Engineer who will prepare designs for systems associated with the Waste Treatment Plant (WTP), High Level Waste project.
The successful candidate must have strong organizational skills, proven problem-solving abilities and a can-do attitude.
This position is located in Richland, Washington.
Part-Time Telework, Majority Office.
This position is a full-time role that offers part-time telework flexibility in the Richland, Washington project office.
Upon initial hire and onboarding, the position will require full time presence in the Richland, Washington project office, then may offer part-time telework flexibility.
This position works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off.
Please be advised that the telework designation of the position may be changed in the future at the discretion of the company or project.
#LI-AA7   Major Responsibilities.
Reviews and prepares higher tier engineering documents and drawings related to the Control Systems engineering discipline.
Properly interprets and applies codes & standards and customer design requirements in the preparation of Control Systems design products.
Coordinates with other engineering disciplines.
Reviews project design criteria, vendor drawings/manuals, Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P & IDs) and Mechanical System Descriptions to determine control and instrumentation functional requirements Selects instrumentation in conjunction with process and mechanical requirements, Prepares Digital Logic Diagrams and Functional Block Diagrams.
Contributes to maintaining the project’s instrument database using automated tools and has knowledge of the applicability of information to be populated in the instrument database.
Specifies instrumentation and control valves and generates associated data sheets and material requisitions.
Allocation and layout of facility control system I/O.
Designs and reviews control cabinet layouts.
Designs and reviews control room layouts, with consideration of human factors.
Provides technical assistance to more junior engineers/designers/drafters.
Education and Experience Requirements.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university or college (or international equivalent) with 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
(Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge) Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft application suite (e.
., Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.).
