Job Summary.
Located at the Gurgaon office, responsible for leading Category Management teams in India offices or other designated areas within corporate and global business units.
Maintains judicious relationship with key suppliers across various categories, supports formulating acquisition strategy for projects, stays abreast with market challenges/opportunities and shares latest updates with project procurement teams and Senior Management, as required.
Develops in-depth technical, commercial, and global supply knowledge of identified categories to leverage opportunities and mitigate risk.
Job Dimensions.
Supervision Received Reports to and receives functional guidance from Manager of Procurement and Contracts, India offices.
Receives technical and operational guidance from Corporate Manager of Category Management and Market Watch.
Supervision Exercised Provides technical, operational, and functional guidance to Category Management teams.
Contacts Maintains relationships with Supply Chain leaders across global Bechtel projects and judicious suppliers for various categories Maintains contacts with counterparts in India office, other global business units and corporate Maintains relationships with Suppliers   Major Responsibilities.
Provides hands-on active management of a team of Category Leads to discharge below responsibilities.
Develop in-depth technical, commercial, and global supply knowledge of identified categories to leverage opportunities and mitigate risk.
Supports projects in developing sourcing strategy to deliver best value to our customers while giving due consideration to Project's Approved Manufacturers List, project financing considerations and compliance to tariff and quota risk.
Keeps track of developments, opportunities & challenges in acquisition of commodities and keeps project management teams and senior management abreast of same.
Maintains commodity heat map, tariffs and quotas across major economies Provides early warning of industry challenges to external and internal stakeholders.
Maintains relationships with judicious supplier's senior personnel Performs in-depth technical & commercial review of supplier capabilities & proposals as and when required.
Identifies and qualifies new Suppliers as per business needs and maintains pre-qualification documents submitted by Suppliers Continually evaluates new — technologies/techniques that improve schedule and reduce cost Keeps track of developments, opportunities & challenges in acquisition of assigned commodities and keeps project management team and senior management abreast of the same Collaborates with other SMEs & colleagues across different business lines & locations Supports key/critical Supplier relationships with Supplier's senior project personnel executing orders to ensure performance of the work.
Responsible for assigned orders from development through closure, to include engagement with Engineering on purchase requisition development, the acquisition and delivery of purchases, and order closeout; to include supporting management of back-charges and claims.
Communicates with Suppliers and personnel within Bechtel to establish clear definition of requirements, and to assure performance to purchase order terms and conditions.
Compiles data needed to prepare any internal reports or presentations.
Oversees Supplier performance and ensures Supplier evaluation reports are used for efficient execution of ongoing/ future projects Visits supplier or sub-supplier facilities as and when required to do so.
Resolves emerging issues as and when they arise during execution   Education and Experience Requirements.
A bachelor's degree in engineering from a reputed University with 20+ years of industry experience in commercial and materials management aspects of procurement of major equipment and bulk materials for Energy, Infrastructure and Mining & Metal Sector with sound knowledge of techno-commercial aspects of commodities sourced for above sectors and prevailing market conditions.
Master's degree in business administration preferred.
Required Knowledge and Skills.
Ability to source commonly used commodities for mega projects in Energy, Infrastructure, or Metal and Mining industry.
Excellent techno-commercial knowledge, understanding of manufacturing capabilities and capacities of global suppliers.
Well conversant with recent advancements in the industry and supply chain challenges/opportunities.
Excellent Communications Skills & good command of verbal & written English Experience managing technical & commercial teams of more than 10 people Collaboration Growth mindset Innovative approach Excellent presentation skills Ability to deal with ambiguity and complex situations Influencing without authority Advanced Data Analysis (6 sigma training preferred) Advanced excel & PowerPoint Demonstrated exposure/experience to global work locations.
