Project Overview.
Bechtel has been selected by Western Power to submit a proposal for Project and Contract Management Services (PCMS).
Western Power is a Western Australian State Government owned corporation responsible for building, maintaining and operating an electricity network that connects 2.
million customers to traditional and renewable energy sources.
If successful, Bechtel will form part of an Integrated Delivery Team with Western Power to manage CEL-NORTH, a program of transmission and terminal station works in the South-West Interconnected System (SWIS) which covers an area of 300kms north of Perth and the Perth Metro area.
Job Summary.
In this role, you will lead a team to develop and manage a safety and health program for a complex project, ensuring safety and health requirements are integrated in planning, design, construction, and operations.
You will provide technical guidance to project leads, evaluate trends, and conduct assessments and inspections.
Your team will help achieve continuous improvement in project safety.
Major Responsibilities.
Supervises a safety services program, or a major component of it, inclusive of technical and administrative aspects.
Supervises assigned safety personnel and provides guidance on their work activities.
Provides technical support within ESH teams and to Engineering, Construction, Commissioning and Startup, Operations, Legal, Contracts, Procurement, Management, and other functions regarding ESH program execution.
Ensures that safety and health requirements are integrated within bid proposals, planning documents, design criteria, construction and commissioning plans, schedules, and subcontract documents.
Prepares, or helps prepare, Safety and Health Management Plans and awareness and training programs in compliance with Bechtel standards, the ESH Management System, and contract and regulatory requirements.
Emphasizes and uses risk assessment, data analysis, and Bechtel’s ESH Management System to help track and achieve continual improvement.
Prepares technical and regulatory reports, researches issues to support ESH program execution, evaluates data, and reports performance trends.
Participates in ESH emergency preparedness planning and confirms investigation and resolution of safety and health incidents.
Builds and maintains working relationships with stakeholders and addresses their issues.
Participates in and leads meetings with customers, team members, and contractors/subcontractors to advise them of safety and health requirements.
Education and Experience Requirements.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) related to occupational safety or health and years of relevant experience or years of relevant work experience   Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.
Experience in managing and/or providing technical oversight of HSE contractors/subcontractors or consultants during construction.
Written and oral communication skills.
A recognized degree from an accredited college or university Prior practical work experience in Health and Safety   Total Rewards/Benefits.
