Project Overview.
Bechtel is partnering with NextDecade to support their vision to provide the world access to lower carbon intensive energy with their Rio Grande LNG (RGLNG) project in Brownsville, Texas.
RGLNG is a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal situated on a 984-acre site on the banks of the Brownsville ship channel.
The first phase of the RGLNG project consists of three liquefaction trains, two storage tanks and one marine berth.
At full capacity, the five-train facility will have a production capacity of 27 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

In this role, you will assist in interpreting and integrating health and safety requirements into project planning, design, construction, and operations.
You will provide input and technical guidance, assist with communications, track performance trends, and conduct inspections and monitoring.
Your work will help keep employees safe by contributing to continuous improvement of project health and safety.
#LI-VB1 Major Responsibilities.
Supports execution of the safety component of an ESH Program inclusive of technical and administrative aspects.
Assists development and implementation of Safety and Health Management Plans, associated plans and procedures, and training program.
Assists the integration of safety and health requirements into planning, design, construction, commissioning, and operations.
Interprets safety and health requirements and provides guidance on related tasks for program execution.
Researches issues and regulatory requirements and prepares documentation and reports.
Provides assistance for safety studies, risk assessments, and other safety and health reviews.
Participates in emergency response and aids incident investigation and resolution.
Assists in identifying stakeholders and resolving their concerns.
Participates in meetings with customers, team members, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
Conducts ESH inspections and monitoring to help identify hazards and risks, the effectiveness of controls, and assess compliance with contract, regulatory, project, and Bechtel requirements.
Education and Experience Requirements.
Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) related to occupational safety or health and 1-2 years of relevant experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills.
Specialized knowledge in a safety specialty (e.
., Personal Protective Equipment, lockout/tagout, fall protection, excavation, People Based Safety) or engineering (e.
., civil, process safety, mechanical) or related disciplines.
Knowledge of safety management, monitoring programs, principles, and methodologies.
Knowledge of safety and health laws and regulations and applicable agencies’ permitting processes and responsibilities.
Knowledge of engineering, construction, and subcontract work processes.
Skilled in oral and written communication and knowledge of computer applications.
Bachelor of Science degree in a specialized scientific field (e.
., safety, industrial engineering, public health) or process/mechanical engineering and/or some practical work experience in the discipline performing the responsibilities listed above.
Bilingual required (Spanish / English) Additional Information.
Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to.
extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces.
Some lifting may be required.
Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress).
Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.
.
harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
