Johnson & Johnson’s Innovative Health Engagement and Advocacy (IHE&A) organization has been created to drive meaningful impact to participant health and wellbeing by reinventing the clinical trial experience.
The Innovative Health Engagement & Advocacy organization connects teams across development to novel capabilities and solutions, unleashing the potential of innovation to drive broader access to innovative medicines, and enrich the healthcare experience for all.
As the Director of Patient Engagement within IHE&A, your role will be pivotal in shaping our above trial patient engagement strategies.
You will collaborate closely with DU partners, driving a patient-centric approach throughout our organization.
Working closely with our Advocacy partners in IHE&A, you will gain valuable insights into current trends and identify key areas of opportunity to enhance patient engagement.
By tapping into your expertise in patient engagement, you will contribute to the overall success of our organization in advancing medical research and delivering innovative solutions that positively impact patients.
Your contributions within this role will be instrumental in optimizing our patient engagement strategies and supporting the seamless operations of our clinical trials globally.
Key Responsibilities.
Drive innovation in patient recruitment and retention capabilities to support DUs in accelerating enrollment and completion of our clinical trials.
Collaborate with key partners to design prioritized strategies that align with DU priorities, ensuring the development of effective patient engagement approaches that drive success.
Develop tailored patient engagement approaches and tools for DUs that allow them to accelerate their start up activities and optimize patient engagement throughout the trial process.
Conduct comprehensive analysis and evaluation of Patient Voice insights to gain a detailed understanding of current performance, identify gaps, and uncover opportunities for enhancing engagement and improving the patient journey.
Collaborate closely with the IHE&A Advocacy team to ensure alignment in patient engagement strategy between both groups, promoting a cohesive approach across the organization.
Shape and pioneer innovative patient engagement strategies aimed at fostering long-term patient engagement across the Johnson & Johnson portfolio.
Lead the discovery of new ways of working with functions including Medical Affairs Organization (MAO) to establish a best-in-class Patient Engagement model that ensures exceptional patient experiences throughout their trial journey.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to ensure a coordinated approach to engagement, driving cohesion and increasing effectiveness.
Provide dynamic leadership to a team of professionals, guiding their development, identifying coaching opportunities, and fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.
Qualifications Education.
A minimum of Bachelor's degree is required.
An advanced degree in a relevant field is preferred.
Experience and Skills.
8+ years of progressive business experience in the pharmaceutical and/or drug development industry is required.
A minimum of 4 years of demonstrated Pharmaceutical R&D experience with a proven track record of performance is required.
Previous experience defining strategy in clinical patient engagement, specifically recruitment and retention is required.
Sharp analytical skills and the ability to effectively use data to create impactful patient engagement strategies is required.
Demonstrated ability to bring innovative thinking and ideas in patient engagement to drive organizational adaptation in response to cultural and market changes is required.
Proven track record of successfully engaging patients and building a strong sponsor reputation is required.
Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence partners across matrix organizations is required.
Ability to thrive in a complex and rapidly changing environment, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility is required.
Strong leadership skills, with experience in managing teams and establishing a positive work environment is required.
Ability to craft structured approaches to drive flawless execution and establish standards of excellence is required.

The compensation and benefits information set forth in this posting applies to candidates hired in the United States.
Candidates hired outside the United States will be eligible for compensation and benefits in accordance with their local market.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs.
Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan.
The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year.
Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year.
Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year.
