Objective of the Position:
PowerChina Chile is seeking a dedicated and skilled Cost Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of renewable energy project proposals. As a Cost Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in estimating, analyzing, and controlling project costs. Your technical expertise and commercial insights will support the Regional Cost Manager and Country Manager in bid preparation and review processes, ensuring alignment with budget constraints and sustainability goals.

Main Functions and Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation: Collaborate closely with project development and engineering teams to provide accurate cost estimates for a diverse range of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, BESS, green hydrogen, water affairs, and other clean energy technologies. Utilize industry benchmarks, historical data, and relevant cost factors to create comprehensive estimates.
Bid Preparation and Review: Contribute to the elaboration, structuring, and review of EPC project bids. Your meticulous attention to detail will be essential in ensuring the competitiveness and accuracy of bid submissions.
Variance Analysis: Conduct detailed variance analysis by comparing actual project costs to budgeted costs. Identify and investigate key drivers behind budget variances, offering valuable insights to optimize cost efficiency.
Sustainability Integration: Collaborate with sustainability experts to guarantee that our renewable energy projects align with environmental and social sustainability objectives. Evaluate the costs and benefits of incorporating eco-friendly practices into project development.
Reporting: Prepare and deliver regular cost reports, presentations, and updates to project stakeholders, management, and clients. Clearly communicate cost-related information, highlighting trends, findings, and potential risk areas.
Change Management: Assess the impact of changes in project scope, design, or execution on project costs. Collaborate with project teams to evaluate change orders and adjust budgets as needed.
Supplier and Contractor Management: Partner with procurement and supply chain teams to monitor costs associated with suppliers and contractors. Utilize negotiation skills to establish pricing agreements that align with project budgets.
Continuous Improvement: Play an active role in enhancing cost engineering processes and methodologies within the renewable energy sector. Share best practices and lessons learned to foster continuous improvement in cost management across projects in the region.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (civil, electromechanical, electrical, etc.).
Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, project development, and execution.
Proficiency in cost estimation, budgeting, and cost control techniques specific to renewable energy projects.
Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and sustainability practices within the renewable energy sector.
Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools used in renewable energy projects.
Knowledge in finance and commercial skills.

Experience:
3 to 5 years of experience in cost engineering, project controls, or related roles within the renewable energy sector.
Experience in project execution for EPC Contractors or subcontractor companies, performing roles such as Site Manager, Project Manager, or similar.
Experience working for PowerChina's competitive EPC contractors.
Network of local civil and installation subcontractors.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Autocad proficiency.
Familiarity with cost estimation tools and project management software.

Language:
Advanced level of English.
